Did you ever figure out why it wouldn’t take grease ?
I figured out that it will only take grease after I run the machine for at least 20min kinda weird but I guess it warms up the grease joint and frees it up. Not normal but was an easy fix
Hey Wes, I know it's been 5 years but how did the GoPro video come out while excavating? I shoot construction sites and want to hook up a GoPro to a bobcat and have the excavator talk while working.
It works great, all my videos are from a GoPro 7 black. Slap a mount on it and go for it, they work great.
Chose one made of Hardox steel 👍🏻
I also appreciate you know the different components of your boom and its not just a boom
Youre thinking cat control vs john deere and yes you can run john deere controls on a cat machine, it just swaps the controls for your stick and boom
"Ripper" Appreciate the knowledge. I will be excavating my own property.
That Bird didnt give a hoot that you were digging in fast forward speed.
About to tackle 7 ohia posts for my deck.... curious on your debarking/sanding that you did to get that super smooth finish? care to share? Aloha from Hau'ula \III/
I used a pressure washer to remove the bark then use 100grit sand paper on a orbital sander to get it ready to stain. I used and recommend Sikkins (Cetal) re1 and 23 as the stain. It is a 3 coat process and comes in 2 separate gallons the first coat is the RE1 gallon and the second and third is the RE23 gallon. I used Mahogany but butternut color is also really nice and popular on the big island. It is pricey stuff but it is the best and will last the longest. Use a staining pad to apply and wipe off excess with the same pad so not to hide the wood grain. Good luck
Fail
Looks like someone knows how to lay some pipe 😉
I want to clear the site, dig the footings, and do the associated drainage works myself. Everyone keeps telling me I am nuts and that using an excavator to do this, having never used one before is nuts. Would you agree, or do you think that if I hire one and spend a day getting used to it, I should be good to do the excavation works myself?
It all depends how well you are able to learn new things, if you are handy and a do it yourselfer than I would say go for it, after a day or so you should be ok to do what you need to but just take it slow and learn the controls. I taught myself awhile back on a small mini ex and was pretty good after a couple days. Just respect the machine and understand that it can damage anything you hit very easily, they are very heavy and unforgiving, good luck and hope it all works out for you.
YOU ONLY NEED TO TAKE THE PIN OUT FAR ENOUGH TO GET THE SHIM IN
What a great video!!!! Thanks for showing us how to setup a waterline🙂🙂🙂
What is the product you used one the Ohia’s and how dry were they?
Cetol sikkins 1 and 23 , its a 3 coat process that comes in 2 seperate cans, kinda pricey but its the best and lasts the longest, I used mahogany color
You mentioned a while back that you were going to try and get a screening bucket,if you get one if you haven’t already, I’m curious what spacing you would get for the openings , I’m facing the that debate for my 314 E I also need one for my 308 E2.
This is excellent advice Wes. Thank you!
G'day mate, greetings from Australia. I found this video because I just bought my first excavator, 2019 8.5 tonne Takeuchi. Until now, I had never even sat in an excavotor, let alone operated one before (I am 60 years old). Really appreciated your video. I am in a high rainfall, very hilly, sub tropical on the east coast of Australia, where I a farm, I am finding it takes a little bit of getting used to operating it and I really appreciated your video. I am going to search your back catalogue for some other excavator related videos. I just wanted to say thank, you have a really natural nice form of delivery that makes it easy to listened to.
Zip ties, where they are cut off are going to slice someone open or slice open a hose. Good job looks good.
What about your computers? Did any water get in?
Very good ❤ video
👍

Could buuild a nice rock wall raised bed garden with the rocks & soil.
A "Monster Rock" for Halloween!
The world is a rockpile & all the rocks are in the wrong place!
Totally True!
I would definitely go bigger if you have the option. Having a large excavator makes jobs so much easier and being able to get them done much faster. Additionally your not working the machine as hard as you would with a smaller one, saving on repairs and other upkeep.
Tottaly agree with you on going bigger, unfortunitly for me this is the biggest machine I own , I couldnt afford anything bigger and the other problem here in Hawaii is this machine is the biggest machine I can move on the roads without a special permit from the county and having to get a police escort, so that was what made me get this Cat 314, If you watch some of my other videos you will be suprised on what this excavator is capable of, I am suprised on every job I do. Thanks for watching I appreciate the support on my channel.
Get a bigger excavator! Stop digging with the toy.
8ft of rock you definitely need something bigger
That's what she said lol 😂
Bigger would definitly be better
@@WesD808 Lmao good one
So what's your plan on doing over there just curious and those Stones is that lava rock or is that regular Stone, that bird wants to be your supper tonight I guess
I am building a large house pad for a family member, these are lava rocks from old lava flows.
Good drama looking @ white bird scoping out the ground for worms while not getting crushed by the excavator. It just wants an easy meal.
The way you are getting bounced around in the cab would trigger my ciatic nerve to mess up my back muscles badly if I tried to do that job. I've seen old guys work excavators but I'm certain I'd be out of action for a few days if I tried that. Just circumnavigating the island to see my Kona dentist was problematic at the end of the day.
Ya definetly is hard on my body but its fun for sure!
Did mine yesterday it’s a 5 minute job and why is this video so long?
We found a ton of corrosion on the bolts and pulleys that we spent time on cleaning them up, we found that the pulley corrosion was shreading the belt really fast, seems to be a major flaw on the Cat ctl, you should keep an eye on yours , thanks for watching 🤙
@@WesD808 yeah and 1 year warranty too should be 5
Back in the early 90s I wouked for a foundation company and we did a job in Kona. This looks familiar. Question, what size is your small Komatsu and did you buy it new? Just found you. Subbed and rang the bell.
Yes this is Kona, I have a really small Komatsu pc-09 , its a 1 ton machine, I bought it second hand about 15 years ago, came with a small NPK hammer and 2 buckets. Mahalo for watching and subscribing
Automobile insurance repair jobs average is a 3 month turnaround. Kamaina motors Hilo dealer service manager told me he has some vehicles on the lot that have been waiting for over a year!
Dang thats crazy, people must be really frustrated, I would not buy a new car anytime soon with these dealer problems.
Rocks!
Yup, Tons of blue rock to bust up, lots of videos coming up. Everything gett8ng crazy nowadays, hope you got your preps in order, Im planning on starting a prepardness youtube channel soon
@@WesD808 For OPSEC reasons I haven't posted a video in over a year. Other than supporting friends channels, I've gone dark, silent running. Too much censorship out there anyway. I'm bugged out & doubled down on all my preps though. Just don't need to make myself a target.
En que pais vives? Como estan los precios alli cuanto te pagan por una ora de trabajo? Por tu excavadora 16 toneladas tiene no?
14-16 ton excavator
@@WesD808 en que pais vives ? Y cuanto cuesta una ora de trabajo ?
I needed ear protection watching the video.
Definetly ! This Hammer is really loud!!!!
Viewing was very satisfying.
Thanks for supporting my channel, Aloha from Hawaii
Why does the ground smoke a lot still is there lava still underneath
It smokes white where the rock is really hard, it creates rock dust when I am trying to break it, that's how I know I hit what's called a blue rock vein, its extreamly hard veins in the rock usually running in the direction of the lava flow, its where the lava was really dense and compressed with high pressures, all the lava has cooled long ago, thanks for watching.
3:05 R.I.P log salamander 😢
Oh crap, didn't see him there
Waimea dirt.... Lucky. Looking good.
Yup waimea, so easy to dig its amazing
It was taking grease! The pump was running! If the grease fitting was plugged the pump would dead head then you work for 30 minutes trying to get the grease chuck off. I don’t know how much grease to apply but I’ve put lots in and never seen any come out anywhere🤷
❤
What a total waste of time
Aaaaand he's back - we missed you mate!
Rocks, rocks, & more rocks.
Welcome back.
I would abuse it like that
You say redneck shim, we from Louisiana say "Cajun Shim" ;) I use paracord and stretch the cord around and around in the notch for temp fixes.
Ok, that is a very valuable information, thank you for sharing it.
